VIEWPOINTS ON THE BLENDING DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY AND REGIONAL ECONOMICS IN CHINA

Abstract Regional economic geography and regional economics are the offspring in the process of geographical science and economic science,developing crosswise in resolving developmental problems of economic region (economic regional system) in China.Regional economics in China,born of geographical system,has basically formed theories and thoughts that match with economic lives in China.Since 1980s,two courses are getting conciliatory in nature day by day.
Looking into the developmental characteristics of regional economic geography and regional economics,we can find that the two courses were deeply affected by locational theory.They were all put into application fields by regional problems in different periods.And they are also facing common challenges in China.
Regional economics develops by resolving concrete regional problems.Otherwise,economic geography,which emphasizing that space and current human society should be a "community" in the fields of history,society,politics and culture,has made great progresses in the studies of regional growth mechanism,new industry geography,regionalization,globalization and localization etc.Therefore,two courses are getting more and more closer in contents and academic frame,and they have common missions in the construction of theoretic frame and other fields in China.
The conciliatoriness of two courses in nature is as followings:(economic region (economic regional system) is the common end-result of two courses.(both of them serve for regional economic development.(the development blending in harmony can make them more popular and become"useful sciences".
